My grandfather Philip Alfred Heupel was born 1 October 1893 in Kassel and emigrated with his parents Adam and Karoline Wanner Heupel and his sister Karoline (known as Carrie) in 1894, eventually settling in McClusky, North Dakota. A cousin of my mother collected extensive family history of the Wanner families and put it together in a book in the 1980s. I am new to this forum and would like to connect with others who are researching the Heupels. I would eventually like to learn how to add a GEDCOM of my family to this website.

To learn how to create and submit a GEDCOM go to http://www.blackseagr.org/gedcom-submit.html. If you are using a specific program and need to convert it to a GEDCOM check out http://www.blackseagr.org/gedcom-create.html and it will walk you through the steps to convert. If you have any other questions or problems, contact database@blackseagr.org. We would love to add your family tree to our database and it will help you make connections as well.

Did any of your Heupel side stay in Kassel? I know that one branch of the Kassel Heupel family was deported in WWII and actually returned not to Kassel, but Neudorf. When I was in the cemetery last year in Neudorf (Glückstal Colonies) I saw several Heupel graves and met the "last German" who was a member of the Heupel family. His name was Adam.

Justin, I am not researching the Heupels in Kassel. I am the database administrator and webmaster. I am also a researcher of the families from the Grossliebental District of Odessa and if any of them married into another village, I may have captured that information in my database.
