Hello

Looking for information on the village of Orloff, District of Berdyansk,Russia and where would I find thevital records.
I know my great grandfather was born around 1864 and were Catholic

I am not familar with this village but we do have a document that may help you with finding Catholic records. Go to http://www.blackseagr.org/church-catholic.html. Getting Catholic records out of Sarata can be expensive but could be worth it to you. Another option would be to share your family data on the Black Sea German Research database and hopefully, others researching in this area will be able to help you and connect you to cousins.

Thanks for the post. I have start the process of searching the Catholic records but I'm trying to figure out which Catholic Church they would have belonged to.

Hello,

I have a copy of Ulrich Mertens book on the villages of South Russia and when I go to Orloff, there are many of them. I am assuming that you are interested in the Orloff in Molotschna area which is Mennonite and Halbstadt is where the local church was but it was a Mennonite church.

Hello

It looks like the closest Catholic parishes were Heidelberg and Kostheim in Taurien province.
