The Black Sea German Research Discussion forums are organized by Sub-Forum and Topic. Our Top level Forums are:
  • BLACK SEA GERMANS GROUP
    In this group of forums members can make suggestions, ask questions and discuss general topics. Please create new topics only in one of the pre-existing sub-forums in this forum. (like in the "Culture and History" sub-forum).
  • QUERIES ABOUT SURNAMES
    In this group of forums members can make queries about and discuss surnames that they are researching. Be sure to include the surnames mentioned in your topic in the subject of that topic
  • RESEARCHING a VILLAGE in RUSSIA
    In this group of forums members can make queries about and discuss villages in Russia that they are researching. Be sure to include the village name or area name in the subject any new topic you create
  • RESEARCHING a TOWN or AREA in GERMANY
    In this group of forums members can make queries about and discuss towns or areas in Germany that they are researching. Be sure to include the town name or area name in the subject any new topic you create
  • RESEARCHING a TOWN or AREA in NORTH AMERICA
    In this group of forums members can make queries about and discuss towns or areas in North America that they are researching. Be sure to include the town name or area name in the subject any new topic you create
  • Researching a Town or AREA OUTSIDE the BLACK SEA
    Our ancestors did not always come from Germany and emigrate to North America. This forum is intended for all our Black Sea researchers whose ancestors either came from or went to an area outside this normal pattern. This includes ancestors who were resettled back to Germany after 1939. Be sure to include the town name or area name in the subject any new topic you create

    This is where you can tell us about something relating to Black Sea German genealogy which you think might be of interest. Please do not use this area for commercial advertising but you can use it to recommend products and services, new websites, hints and tips and so on.
  • How Do I?
    Looking for advice? Post a question here.
  • SUGGESTIONS
    This is where you can make suggestions concerning this forum, the Black Sea Germans website or the Black Sea Germans Group itself. If you would like us to set up any new Topic this is where to say so! We are very interested in changing these forums to make them easier to use and more valuable to your research. Please to not hesitate to post suggestions here.
  • Other
    If you cannot figure out where to put a post, this forum is the catch all for any posts not relevant to other headings

USING THE FORUMS:

You can create a new Topic or post (i.e. Reply) to an existing Topic in any of these Forums and Sub-forums. First look at all the Forums and Sub-forums and decide which forum seems like the place where your Topic would be found or would be created. Then click on the Forum or Sub-forum so you can view the existing Topics within that Forum or Sub-forum.

If you DO see your Topic listed in the active topics:
Click on the topic to view it and then click on "Reply" to add your comments or query to the discussion. You can click on the "Preview" button at any time to see a preview of what your post will look like. Then click on the "Submit" button to post your comments or questions to the topic.

If you DON'T see your Topic listed in the active topics:
Click on the "NewTopic" button and fill in the Subject line with a short title for the Topic. Then type in as much information as you can about the query, comments or whatever you want to say about the Topic. The more information you put in the more likely it will be that the researchers on the Internet will be able to find your Topic and reply. You can click on the "Preview" button at any time to see a preview of what your post will look like. Then click on the "Submit" button to post your new Topic.
If the idea of creating a new topic seems too difficult or complicated please send a private message or an email to the forumadmin member with as much information as you know about your suggestion and we will create a new topic for you.

IT IS NOT A GOOD IDEA TO PLACE YOUR EMAIL ADDRESS IN ANY POST ON THE BLACKSEAGR.ORG FORUMS! This discussion forum has a secure email facility where other members can send you private messages or an email. In both cases your identity/email will be hidden until you decide to reveal it. The Blackseagr.org website does not make your emails available to anyone. We only keep your email so members can contact you via this anonymous email service.
