My grandfather was born in Nesselrode. Here are the facts I know at this time:
  • German Name: Nesselrode
  • Russian Name: Kujalnik, Kuyalnik, or Kujalkin
  • Ukrainian Name: unknown
  • Parish: Hoffnungstal
  • Area: Odessa
  • District: Cherson
  • Rayon: Hoffnungstal
  • Founded: 1873
  • Religion: Evangelical
  • Location on Stumpp Map: B-3, 29/47
  • Longitude and Latitude: 47.728892,29.558444
  • Plat Map: none
Notes:
  • Now a southern suburb of the town of Kotovsk (Birsula). In 1996 town officials claimed that Germans had never lived in Kuljalnik.
  • Had own Prayer House in 1909.
  • Had population of 212 in 1909 (mentioned in HOP newsletter issue 2-3)
  • Had 386 people in 1918.
  • Stumpp's maps says it was gone by 1918. ("erloschen vor 1918")
  • Shows on the Stumpp map as next to Birsula.
  • Wolost and Post Birsula
