My father was Johann Peter Schmidt, born Aug 7th, 1916 in Schardau, Russia.
His father was Peter Schmidt ( aprox: DOB: 1863) and his mother was Katherina Friesen-Schmidt.(DOB: March 1888)
My father had 3 sisters, Annie Schmidt, DOB 1911, Gertrude DOB 1913, and Mary 1919, and a brother George that died in Russia, 1921.

I am hoping some one has information or connections to this family and especially any information re: Peter Schmidt. My Grand Mother Katherina was his second wife, and when he married her, he already had children near her age of 22. Peter, ( was married and had moved from Schardau) Issac (executed the same day his father was), Eva and Anna.
Peter Schmidt was executed by the Red Army in Oct 1921.
My father immigrated to Canada with his Mother, her new husband, Jacob Janzen,( son of Henry and Mary Janzen), who were also from Schardau) and his three sisters in Oct 1925.

Does any one have any connection to any of the Schmidts from Schardau ? Abraham? Heinrich? Peter?

Were your Schmidts ever from Helenental, South Russia? My grandfather, Daniel Schmidt, emigrated from there to Canada in 1902. Is a connection possible?
