Hi,

My grandfather is Raymond Wirtz from Center, North Dakota. His parents were Nickolous Wirtz (b. 1884 d. 1961) from Speier Russia and Magdalena Kuntz (b. 1888 d. 1953) from Landau Russia. Nickolous Wirtz had sisters Mary Wirtz Glosser (went to Argentina before 1907), Elizabeth Wirtz Heck (b. 1881 d. 1967 in ND), and Rose Marie Wirtz (b. 1888 d. 1972 in ND). Magdalena Kuntz had a sister Florentina (b. 1890) and supposedly a brother. His paternal grandparents were Melchior/Michael Wirtz (b. 1848) and Katherina Schaff (b. 1856). His maternal grandparents were Joseph Kuntz and Elizabeth Stoltz. They were all Catholics. I'd love to connect with anyone who has ancestors from Speier/Landau with those surnames. It's been quite the scavenger hunt to get info!

Hi Marcie,

I am looking for the parents of my great grandfather, Klemens Kunz born 1882 d 1967 from Landau Russia. I know Klemens had brothers and sisters but that is all I know right now. I am looking into two poosible names Ernie Kunz and Elizabeth Storch/stork. Klemens and his wife Mathilda were RC as well. Not sure this helps

Hi,

I've looked through my 1858 Landau census. There's an Elisabetha Schtark (Stark) born in 1853 (parents are Peter and Rosalia). There's an Elisabetha Schtork born in 1857 (parents are Sebastian and Margaretha)

I couldn't find an Elisabeth Storch/Stork or Ernie Kunz in my 1860-1866 Landau RC Baptisms.

Do you know where Klemens died? If it's in the US, it's really easy to order his death certificate. That's what I did for my great-grandparents to find out the names of their parents in Landau. If it doesn't have his parents names on that, you can order the death certificates of his siblings.

Hope this helps!

Marcie
