Their history and ancestors. Maybe your a descendant hope you enjoy.

What an interesting story to write. Viktoria was born in Mariental Russia (see attached document gained from the Saratov Archives).Name: Viktoria Kress

No: 96 Mariental

Birth date: 22 Sep 1882

Baptism date: 23 Sep 1882

When, where, who and by whom baptized, with one or all rites: a newborn named Viktoria was baptized 23 Sep 1882 in the Roman Catholic Parish Church of Josephstal by the priest Joseph Wolf, with all rites of baptism.

When and where born, parents: 22 Sep 1882 in the village of Mariental, daughter of the Mariental villager Karl Kress and his wife Katharina born Feller (most likely Völler).

God parents: Peter Heinz, young single man, and Viktoria Kress, maiden.

Signatures of witnesses by desire: none

(Other attached document is marriage of her parents Karl Kress and Katharina Voeller (sp) also from the Saratov Archives)
Translation:

Karl Kress & Katharina Feller (Völler)

When, where, by whom united in marriage:
November 9th, 1881 in Josefstal Roman Catholic Parish Church, with trice repeated announcements, first - October 25th, second - November 1st, third - November 8th, by priest Joseph Wanner.

Names of the couple, fortune and title, age, parish:
Mariental villagers Karl Kress, 25 years old, with the maiden Katharina Feller, 21 years old, both are parishioners of this church, by mutual consent of both.

Parents and witnesses:
Son of Georg Kress and Magdalena Heinz was united with the daughter of Michael Feller and Anastasia Ochs and blessed by the priest in presence of the witnesses Johann Heinz and Balthasar Martian.

It surely was a happy day first child for Karl and Katharina as she was baptised the following day. I haven't asked for a marriage record as these records are very expensive (My brothers and sisters helped with the cost of these two records.)
Her family information posted below. ..

REMARKS:
Ellis Island New York Immigration Records: Mathias arrived 25 Apr 1905, ship “Furnessia”, from Odessa departing from Glasgow
Viktoria, Jakob and Karl arrived 11 Dec 1905, ship “Carmania”, from Odessa departing from Liverpool, England
Boston Passenger Lists, 1891-1943, Microfilm Roll 157: Eduard with grandparents arrived 20 Oct 1910, ship “Ivernia”, from Mariental departing from Liverpool, England
1920 US Federal Census – Gove Co, KS
Mathias – son of Jakob Löwenstein & Franziska Zerr
Viktoria – dau of Karl Kress & Katharina Völler

((( As you can see Mathias her husband came alone and arrived 25th of April 1905 and not sure where he migrated to but we do know he lived at Wild Horse Colorado as a daughter Frances named after Mathias' mother. was born there in 1906.
Now as you can see above Viktoria arrived 11 Dec 1905 with two sons Jakob and Karl. Remember Mathias left Mariental in Russia April 1905 and he missed the birth of Karl born August 1905. So Viktoria with a baby 5months old and a toddler 3years old left her family to meet her husband in America. 25 year old mother with two very young children crossing the Atlantic traveling probably by train across the USA to meet her husband.
Viktoria never learned to speak English very well so that must have been a challenging trip.

5 years later Mathias' parents came to near Park Kansas in 1910 bringing Eduard their 2nd son as well. What I do know they left Wild Horse Colorado and settled on a farm about 6 miles south of Park Kansas. She gave birth to 12 children (see above) including my mother Anna and 11 made adulthood and 10 married and had children.

The only communication she had with her parents was letters asking for food which she sent but probably were stolen before they reached her parents. So far I haven't found any record so I am assuming they probably were part of the mass numbers that starved to death as the Bolsheviks
created terror and thefts.

When I was 9 years old I still remember visiting with my parents grandma Viktoria was faced with the death of her husband in 1939. He died in their farm home so Viktoria was a widow for 6 years as she also passed away 1944 in Grainfield Kansas a town 5 miles west of Park where she had moved to after selling her farm to Anton Kuntz.

The 2nd World War years were difficult as many of us of German heritage tried to hide that as the war was against Germany. So in my early 70's I
decided to study and develop my family history. Let me say Viktoria was a courageous woman and had many hardships but lets be proud of her
and this story hopefully will enlighten many of her descendants and friends.
