I am new to this forum and this is my first post! :o
My Grandfather John F (Johannes) Mildenberger from Strassburg and Sulz So Russia stowed away on a ship in 1909 and first went to Towner, ND where his sister Eugenia Zeigler lived. I am named after her... my given name is Eugenia, but I generally go by Genie. The following year, his mother and step-father Rose and Franz Thomas arrived. This line goes back to Peter Mildenberger who left Schluctern, Sinshiem District, Duchy of Baden to help found Katharinental in the 3rd wave of colonists in 1819. I am not sure when the family moved to Strassburg. My understanding is the my grandfather was born in Strassburg but raised in Sulz. He met and married his wife, Caroline (Cora) Jochim in Bismarck, ND. She was born in the US, but her family goes back to Katharinental as well.

Cheers! and happy hunting
-g
